The one permission
Why Percentl needs Usage Access
It's the Android permission that reports how long apps run — the same one Digital Wellbeing and Screen Time use.
What it shows us
- How many minutes each app was in the foreground.
- The app's category — social, games, and so on.
- How often you unlock your phone.
What it does not show us
- Anything inside your apps — no messages, keystrokes, screen contents, or passwords.
- What you browse or type. Android never exposes these, and we never ask.
Why we can't skip it
There's no other way on Android to measure real screen time. Without it, we can't tell you where you stand.
Change your mind anytime
Revoke it in Settings › Apps › Special access › Usage access. We stop collecting immediately.
